 Mirage Bastone

The Mirage Bastone is our semi-automatic version.
Hitting the small lever poking through the front panel starts the brewing process, hitting it again stops extraction.

The Bastone version is in fact technically identical to the touchpad operated machine.
We chose to keep the electronics, instead of fitting relays, because we wanted to preserve all the advantages these electronics offer.
The Bastone still does not fill up its main boiler during brewing, no extraction is ruined by a sudden loss of pump pressure.
The hot-water timer is still present.
Also, the automatic back-flush program can still be activated.

So, the main difference is the replacement of the touch pads by the shiny steel rod with black bakelite oval knob.
This does make it a rather different machine in feeling. The Bastone very much is a machine for the dedicated barista, looking for fast, direct and a very “hands-on” type of control.
